Okay, one cannot go to纳什维尔and not try some of the city’s famous hot chicken. This was literally the first thing my mom and I did after checking into our hotel. 我通常不喜欢酒店餐厅, Henley came highly recommended and the added bonus was that it was located right in the Kimpton. After a packed first day of touring all about the city, it was great to come back to our hotel, take a quick shower, and then just ride the elevator down to dinner.

The menu offers a selection of traditional Southern favorites but with a decidedly modern, upscale twist. Henley’s house cocktails were touted quite highly (ranging in price from $12-$15). I unfortunately don’t remember which one I ordered but I didn’t overly like it. It was one of those cocktails that seemed to have half a dozen different ingredients and the resulting taste was overpowering. The best part was the Harry Potter-style owl goblet it came in.

The dinner menu is divided into snacks (small size portions) and plates (larger size). Selections are meant to be shared, which is my favorite way of eating while out. My mom and I opted for the Bloomy Rind Cheese Board ($18) which consisted of regional cheese, local honey, and pumpernickel toast. Because they won’t fill you up and spoil your entree, cheese appetizers are one of my favorite things to order.

正如我在第一篇文章中提到的纳什维尔的帖子, I was so glad to have secured a reservation at Husk, a restaurant from famed chef Sean Brock. Husk is all about serving Southern food using the farm to table concept. The menu frequently changes based on what the region’s producers are providing. But here’s an indication of the types of things you could be eating. For the record, I ended up ordering three appetizers. I tend to do this when none of the entrees really call out to me, especially when traveling and I can’t take leftovers home with me.

-You might be thinking this sounds so plain and boring, but the cheesy biscuits were mouthwateringly delicious (honestly, you can’t have Southern cuisine without the ubiquitous biscuit) and the ham, which was aged, tasted exactly like something you’d find in Spain. The biscuits were so good I had the waiter wrap a remaining one in plastic to take home with me on the plane.

As one would expect at a restaurant with such a prestigious reputation, service at Husk was terrific. The other wonderful thing about it was the building it’s located in, a beautiful historic mansion. When in纳什维尔,很容易被所有的新建筑和更现代化的20世纪建筑所吸引,但只要冒险去拉特利奇山,你就会明白我的意思。

Obviously, in a city as large and varied as纳什维尔, there’s a plethora of restaurants to choose from. But the above three are terrific choices.
